What is it about Fruity Martinis?

yellowplums.sm2

I was sitting here thumbing through my posts and realized that I never shared my yellow plum martini with you. It was the night of Pie ... the triple berry creation that lead to the first ever "Three Berry Pie Martini"!

It dawned on me that it was actually the Yellow Plum Martini(s) that lead to the grand AH HA!!! I've never been one for all the chic new cocktails making the gotham scene but I have to admit I'm diggin' the bright seasonal fruit flavors with that kick of Kettle One (or your favorite vodka).

Give it a try with your favorite fruit - a blender or food processor will quickly pit stone fruits for you (pulse gently to keep your machine from exploding!). Some fruit puree - ice - vodka - a little shakeroonie and PRESTO!... martini magic in your own little kitchen! You'll be feelin' groovy and you'll save enough money to buy another pair of Jimmy Choo's for dancing the night away! ... if that's your thang ...

A funny thing happened on the way to making pie ...

A Martini is born!

I was working on the pie and pie crust lesson that I had planned on posting today and I sort of missed some shots for the photo album. Pie crust is soooooo easy that I was finished making it before I realized that I needed to give you folks a couple more steps in the process.

The pie came out of the oven all bubbly and smelling like heaven and there was this luscious juice all over the tin foil. It was the perfect berry reduction - slightly carmelized and the consistency of molasses and I didn't want to waste it!

Seeing that it was "cocktail hour" I had a revelation! Into the cocktail shaker went the ice and then - dare I say it - the heavenly pie berry juice - and then a splash or two of Kettle One and presto ... the first ever 3 berry pie martini!
